If an IP camera is WiFi, does that mean it doesn't use any cables?

No. A Wi-Fi security camera transmits data using a Wi-Fi computer network, but it usually still requires power. There are some models of IP cameras with batteries , but they are few, and their use is usually limited to specific cases, since they are cameras that will have to be recharged.

Are there Wi-Fi cameras that work with 5Ghz Wi-Fi?

There are very few. Almost all Wi-Fi IP cameras continue to use 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi networks exclusively, and cannot connect to 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi.

A Wi-Fi camera is easier to install than a wired camera, right?

It doesn't have to. A Wi-Fi camera may have less work to do when it comes to running cables; but it will be more work when configuring it, since you have to know which Wi-Fi to connect to. This implies that the day we change companies, change the router, or simply change the password of our Wi-Fi, we will have to reconfigure the camera.

Is there any way to make it simpler?

We have self-installable kits with Wi-Fi available. These kits come with an NVR recorder that generates its own Wi-Fi, independent of what we have at home, and with the Wi-Fi cameras already pre-configured. With these kits we only have to connect the recorder to our router, and plug the cameras each into a power outlet. The system's Wi-Fi will be independent of what we have at home.
